Overview

Physicians resp. Medical Service Providers generate invoices
by using a software which has implemented Sumex1 modules.

Invoices can either be sent electronically or printed out.
Both ways a standard compliant generalInvoiceRequest is generated.

The patient receives printed out Tiers Garant invoices.
He has the possibility to claim payments from his insurance using the reclaim slip.

The standard is defined and maintained by Forum Datenaustausch.

Invoices generated by Sumex1 can be transmitted to third party intermediates,
using their proprietary transmission software.

Invoices generated by Sumex1 can be printed out in a standard compliant way.

The reciepient of a Tiers Garant invoice is the garant (mostly the patient itself).

A printed Tiers Payant invoice.
The reciepient of a Tiers Payant invoice is always the insurance company

A claim for repayment.

Invoices may be printed out and sent to a patient,
according to the defined service agreements with
a Medical Services Providers. (Tiers Garant)

Invoices may be directly staged for insurance companies
in case this has been allowed by patient, law, etc. (Tiers Payant)

Intermediates (e.g. Mediport, Curabill, AEK, …) can further process
generalInvoiceRequest according to their service agreements and
predefined settings in the generalInvoiceRequest.

Insurance companies receive invoiceRequests from various sources either electronically or by mail.
